Our two day celebration will start on Friday the 17th with DESSERTS MADE FROM PRICKLY PEAR, the dark sweet magenta fruit growing wild on our 40 acre ranch as they have for millions of years. Music will fill the air, Spanish Folk songs and all your favorites in English, sung by the Copper Cactus Ranchers. You can sing with our band. Our celebration continues throughout Saturday when Copper Cactus Ranch will have a traditional cowboy campfire in which guests may roast the ripe maroon Prickly Pear fruit over the flames to remove the needles, peel open the rich dark fruit and enjoy the sweet Prickly Pear the way the Natives have for millennia. It’s like time travel, under the stars in the gorgeous Sonoran desert, in the wild foothills of the Superstition Mountains.
Our neighboring community, Superior starts its Seventh Annual Prickly Pear Festival hosted by the Superior Chamber of Commerce on Saturday, August 18th 2018, from 7.a.m. to 6 p.m. so you can do both our event and Superior’s event. If you go to the Superior event, stop by the Veterans of Foreign War Hall on Main Street for a pancake breakfast and to view the VETERANS HONOR WALL created and supported by Copper Cactus Ranch Men’s Retreat founders. All proceeds of the Pancake Breakfast will benefit the local VFW Post.
